The South Shall Rise Again!!

June 28, 2008

Well I survived the trip to Atlanta!  Besides my flight getting delayed an hour on the way the trip was good!  We didn’t get the chance to do a whole lot with Tyler graduating and packing getting ready to move back to Iowa, but it was nice to see one of my friends hit another milestone in their life.  (Thankfully I didn’t have to pack up any uhauls!!)  I’m glad I went because it was just me and his girlfriend there cheering him on and with an accomplishment like that it is nice to have someone there to share it with.

Sarah, the girlfriend, was very nice.  They didn’t argue once while I was there!  Tyler was probably on his best behavior!  It was a shame that Pat couldn’t make it!  Although I do have to send out a big congrats to Pat for passing the fourth part of national boards!!  Well done!  Now he only has to get his license and a job and he will be all set!  My hat off to you and hopefully I won’t be to far behind!

Took some good picture with my new camera! (unfortunately they are still sitting in my memory card)  Although I did find out that digital zoom is not all they make it out t be.  But as soon as get the pictures loaded I will make sure I share.

The Countdown is on!

June 18, 2008

That’s right it is on!  2 days to my little mini vacation!  It should be fun!  I’m glad my boy is finally graduating.  For awhile there I thought he was going to be a life long student.  Well one thing is for sure my student loan bill looks a hell of a lot better than his!! Its sad though I’m the only person besides his girl that is coming to the graduation, so I want to make sure he has a good time while I’m there,

I’m coming home on Monday and they leave for Iowa on Tuesday.  Hope I don’t have to pack, it too hot for that!  But if he needs the help I will, god knows he has helped me move a couple of times!!  I just wondering how she is going to adjust to living in the middle of nowhere Iowa.  It is funny when he is in his home town the only place he gets good cell reception is at WalMart that is like thirty minutes away.  I hope he gets a house phone!  He is moving into his grandfather’s house that has recently passed away.  Not a bad deal it is all payed for he just has to clean it out.  Plus it is just down the road from his Mom’s.

But as of now there are no set in stone plans for the weekend in the “Dirty Dirty”.  Hope it is a good time!

Lights, Camera, Action!

June 15, 2008

Today has been a monumental day within the Reese family history!!  For the first time ever in his life my father got to use his webcam on his top of line iMac that he had to have.  So I know that really doesn’t seem like a big deal to most people in today’s day and age, but to my father it is a huge accomplishment!  I must admit it was actually nice to see and hear him on Father’s Day.  It is hard with my parent’s living in Tucson to really feel connected with them but today it was nice to actually see them!  I hope this made his Father’s Day!  He has been hounding me for month to get a webcam so we can video chat and I’m glad I did.  I got to talk to my whole family!  After about ten minutes of talking my Dad finally realized he didn’t have to scream at the computer for me to actually hear him and that talking normal works just as good.  But the funny thing is when my Mom came into the room she started yelling at the computer (it must be a generational thing) and he swiveled around in his new office chair and told her ever so smugly “You know you don’t have to yell for him to hear you, so stop yelling in my ear!” like he wasn’t doing the same thing five minutes earlier!  They are too funny!  I thought my Mom was going punch him in the nose!

My Dad and his $3000 email machine, as I like to think of it, is a whole story in of itself!  But he is trying! I’m guessing by the time he figures out half of things he can do with his computer we will be on to neural implants to interface with our home computers.  My Dad cracks me up because he love all these electronic gadgets but has the hardest time using them!  For example he lost iTunes, I mean it was completely gone!!  The last time Lisa and I went for a visit we searched for and it was nowhere to be found!!  I asked what he had done and all he could reply is “I don’t know, it is just gone!”

Now his new adventure is a video camera!  He was telling the last time he had anything like this was the old 8mm Supermax!  So this should be interesting.  I’m sure I will be getting a few emails about it!

No more mixed tapes!!

June 13, 2008

I was reading someone post earlier about the new Metallica controversy.  Apparently they invited some “well known” music bloggers to come listen to their new album and then got pissed off when the went back and reviewed their album on their blogs.  What did they think was going to happen?  I’m tired of them already!! After the whole Napster ordeal and now this!  Besides when was the last time Metallica has put out a truly ass kicking album?

It is time to move on and get with the times.  Downloadable music is the new era of music!  I must admit it has taken me some time to let go, but i have!!  Although i must say i do miss CDs, but i love my iPod more! What is not to love, thousands of songs from hundreds of you favorite bands all in a nice little device.  No more do you have to be pissed because you grabbed your favorite CD jump into the car, be miles from home and open up the case just to find it empty!!  Then you realize its in the stack of about 20 CDs cluttering the top of your stereo! But what i hated even more was the wrong CD in the wrong case!! that drove me nuts!! I also hated lending CDs out, usually never to be seen again!   Did you ever have one of those friends that would always returned CDs but returned them scratched?  What do they did they do to them.  I have CDs that I have had for years without a single scratch, you lend it to them and 2 days later you had a $15 coaster!  Oh well that is enough about that!

Off to a stellar Start!!

June 12, 2008

Post numero uno has had some moderate success!  Between yesterday and today I have managed to land a total of 49 hits!!  I know for some of you that is nothing, however to me it means a lot.  The more i think about blogging it reminds me of that game- Six degrees of separation.  Anyway, I just like to thank all those people who stopped by and for those who left comments, thank you!

I have an update on the picture taking… the new pictures of my living room turned out at way better than last night’s. (i crack myself up!)  I’m chomping at the bit for a chance to use my new camera but the right time has not revealed itself to me.  Although I will get the chance to put it into full action next weekend.  I’m flying to Atlanta!  Thats right I’m headed back to the “dirty dirty”!  My friend and former roommate, Tyler, graduates next Friday from Life Chiropractic College.  It should be a good time!  Hopefully our friend Pat can make over from Alabama.

Although this could be a really bad weekend too!  Tyler has recently move into his girlfriend’s house.  This way he didn’t have to get locked into a lease for his last month of school.  Here is the problem with that.  Pat and I both agree that his girlfriend doesn’t really care for either one of us.  Tyler says otherwise, but you can just tell sometimes.  I have only  really met her a few times and each time was just as charming as the last.  Well in all fairness she is usually arguing with him when I’m there.  About what you may be asking and your guess is as good as mine,  I can only assume it is related to either Pat or I consuming his time when we are visiting,  But this is just pure speculation because he won’t really give us a straight answer when we ask.  So it is hard to strike up a conversation as she is storming out the door.

But now we are on her turf and I will be crashing at her house.  A little fact he neglected to tell me before I booked my flight!  I have some reservations about this, but Ty assures me she is cool with it.  And in the back of my mind, knowing him, I have this sneaking suspicion he hasn’t told her yet!!  So I can’t wait to see how this plays out!  Regardless of her degree pleasantness I’m not missing my boy’s graduation!!  I will keep you posted!

New Camera

June 11, 2008

Wow where to begin?  The concept of blogging is very new to me and still seems a bit strange!  Thankfully not many will read my first couple of post! ….. and those who do my sincerest apologies!

I am however very excited about my new digital camera!  (again a first for me)  I know what what your probably thinking.. what took me so long.  Don’t get me wrong I have used plenty, but until yesterday I never owed one i called my own.  I bought an Olympus Stylus 760.  Nice little point and shoot and I great deal on otherwise this post would probably be about something completely different, lol!  I haven’t taken any award winning pictures yet, not unless you count the 19 or so I taken of my living room.

So be fore warned there are many totally awesome pictures to come!!!  Well i think that is all for now.  Thanks for reading!
